Special Education Needs Teacher / SEN Class Teacher Job Vacancy, Derby, Derbyshire.

This specialist Education School is located just a 7 min / 1.6-mile drive north from Reading centre via the A601. So is ideally located for anyone living in the north Derby or surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage & Educate: Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across a broad curriculum tailored to meet the individual needs of SEN students.
  • Lead & Inspire: Manage the day-to-day activities of your classroom, guiding Teaching Assistants and Higher-Level Teaching Assistants to excel in their roles.
  • Monitor and ensure the well-being of students, collaborating with care, medical, and behavioural support teams as needed.
  • Plan & Execute: Design and implement well-structured lessons that cater to a diverse range of abilities, ensuring all students can thrive.
  • Collaborate & Contribute: Work closely with the Head Teacher and leadership team to uphold the school's ethos and educational vision.
  • Continuously assess and enhance teaching practices, setting benchmarks for student achievement and implementing necessary changes.
  • Participate in the recruitment and induction of new staff, ensuring a positive and effective team environment.
  • Build strong relationships with school staff, parents, carers, and external agencies to support the holistic development of each student.

Criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience with KS3 and KS4 curriculum is desirable.
  • Specialist Knowledge: Experience adapting curriculum for SEN students, particularly those with ASD and SEMH, is highly valued.
